ENVS 450: Environmental Law & Policy: Graduation Writing Assessment Requirement (GWAR)

STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO TAKE ENVS 450 EARLY ON IN THE MAJOR.

Prerequisites

  1. Pass ENVS 300: Introduction to Environmental Studies with a grade of C or better.
  2. Complete the Written Communications GE requirement (English 214 or equivalent).

After Registering for ENVS 450

The instructor will check that you have satisfied the prerequisites. Students who have not taken ENVS 300 and received a C or better will be dropped from the course. If you satisfied the Written Communications prerequisite through a course other than ENG 214, the instructor will contact you and ask you to show evidence of meeting the prerequisite. The easiest way to demonstrate you have met the prerequisite is with a DARS report indicating that the Written Communications requirement has been satisfied. In some cases, the DARS report does not properly indicate that the requirement has been satisfied (for example, when the requirement was satisfied with a community college course not recorded on DARS). In this case the students’ Advanced Standing Evaluation (ASE) should indicate the course taken and that it satisfies the requirement. For a list of SFSU courses satisfying the written communications requirement see the bulletin.

Grading for ENVS 450 is on a No Credit, C, C+, B-,B,B+,A-, A basis. The only grade less than a C is No Credit. Students receiving a No Credit grade receive neither the GWAR credit or credit for the course, and must retake ENVS 450.
